As teachers at The Point Church we know that we will be judged more strictly, according to James 3:1. Therefore, we commit to reflecting God honoring values and practices in a ‘no doubt’ way. Even in grey issues we want others to see Christ first and foremost. We take Jesus’ words to heart that others will know that we are His disciples if we love one another (John 13:35).
When asked which is the greatest commandment in the law (of which there are 600+ commandments), Jesus responded, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40)
Therefore, we require that all teachers at The Point Church live by these commandments of Jesus. For more specific guidance around morality, Jesus words from his ‘Sermon on the Mount’ in Matthew 5-7 should be followed. All teachers are required to read Matthew 5-7 and Matthew 22:36-40.
