Welcome to a new semester of Groups! We are excited about the journey you’re on in your faith and know that God has great things in store for you this semester.

You often hear us talking about “Next Steps” and although we rarely place importance on one over the other (all are important), there is no question that GROUPS is one of the primary next steps you can take with The Point Church.

Take a look through all the different Groups we have available this fall and click the link below to let us know which one you’re interested in joining.

MONDAY

Group Leaders: Dora MacTavish & Sue Sweezey
When: Monday at 6:30 PM - Newcastle Site
Average Age: Mixed
Study: GriefShare
It hurts to lose someone. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

Group Leader: Brett Cameron
When: Monday at 6:30 PM - Newcastle Site (shared childcare available)
Average Age: Mixed 30-50
Study: Guardrails by Andy Stanley
Guardrails: a system designed to keep vehicles from straying into dangerous or off-limit areas. They're everywhere, but they don't really get much attention...until somebody hits one. And then, more often than not, it is a lifesaver. Ever wonder what it would be like to have guardrails in other areas of your life—areas where culture baits you to the edge of disaster and then chastises you when you step across the line? Your friendships. Your finances. Your marriage. Maybe your greatest regret could have been avoided if you had established guardrails. In this six-session study, Andy Stanley challenges us to stop flirting with disaster and establish some personal guardrails.

Group Leader: Darwin Vickers
When: Monday at 7:00 PM - 5 Sandpiper Lane, Lower Derby
Average Age: Mixed 40+
StudyFollow by Andy Stanley
Do you ever feel like the Christian life is a long game of "Jesus Says?” Jesus says pray. Jesus says give. Jesus says to go to church. In this study, Andy Stanley shows you that Jesus' invitation to His first-century audience was really an invitation to relationship. And it began with a simple request - follow me.

Group Leader: Carl Hudson
When: Monday at 7:00 PM - 100 Stothart Drive, Newcastle (starts Monday, October 7th)
Average Age: Mixed 60 (average)
Study: Jonah by Eric Mason
At the end of the day, God is less concerned with what we do for Him than who we are in Him. Pastor and author, Eric Mason will expand your vision to see that Jonah's story is our own. Jonah offers a profound glimpse into the conflict that occurs when God calls resistant believers to His mission. More importantly, it underscores the depths of His compassion not only in redeeming the lost, but redeeming those He has called to participate in His reconciling work.

Group Leader: Kurt Parks
When: Monday at 7:00 PM - 244 rue Francine, Beresford
Average Age: Youth
Study: Reckless Love by Bob Goff

TUESDAY

Group Leader: Darla Dunnett
When: Tuesday at 2:00 PM - Newcastle Site

Study: Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler
The explicit gospel transforms individuals, churches, and nations as the mission of God is carried forward. Even if you go to church, it doesn’t mean that you are being exposed (or exposing others) to the gospel explicitly. Sure, most people talk about Jesus, and about being good and avoiding bad, but the gospel message simply isn’t there in its fullness. Here is a call to true Christianity, to know the gospel explicitly, and to unite the church on the amazing grounds of the good news of Jesus!

Group Leader: Natasha MacQuarrie
When: Tuesday at 7:00 PM - 225 Monroe Avenue, Bathurst
Average Age: Ladies
StudyAnxious for Nothing by Mac Lucado
Does the uncertainty and chaos of life keep you up at night? Chances are, you or someone you know, seriously struggles with anxiety. Max Lucado invites readers to delve into Philippians 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Max explains the scripture, and shows that, though anxiety comes with life, it doesn't have to dominate your life.

Group Leader: Kurt Parks
When: Tuesday at 7:00 PM - 244 Francine Street, Beresford
Average Age: Mixed 30-50
Study: Colossians by Louie Giglio
What we think about Jesus matters. Our perception of Him shapes us—what we say, how we treat others, even what we think. If we paint Jesus as any less than who He is as supreme over all creation and Savior of the world, not only does our theology slip, but the working out of our faith also suffers. Louie Giglio will take us through the book of Colossians to help us form a complete picture of Jesus. What we believe about Him influences everything from our corporate worship to our relationships to our attitude toward sin. Now alive in Christ, we can live a life worthy of God instead of falling back into the ways of the world.

Study: Shaken by Tim Tebow
Who are you when life is steady? Who are you when storms come? Most of us have been on the receiving end of rejection - a broken dream, or heartbreak. And while this is not an easy space to go through, when we are grounded in the truth, we can endure the tough times. In this powerful series, Heisman Trophy winner, Tim Tebow, passionately shares glimpses of his journey staying grounded in the face of disappointment, criticism, and intense media scrutiny. Following an exceptional college football career with the Florida Gators and a promising playoff run with the Denver Broncos, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets. He was released after one season. In Shaken, Tebow talks about what he's learned along the way, building confidence in his identity in God, and not the world. Though traveling hard roads is not easy, it's always worth it!

Study: Uncaged by Jud Wilhite
The cage of your past can rob you of your present and future. Guilt and shame can weigh down your life. But God has promised to forgive. In Christ, there is no condemnation. This talk explores the freedom of forgiveness and how to move past the past. The cage of weakness can lock you up and destroy your confidence. But God can make you strong where you are weak through the power of the Holy Spirit. In this message, we learn how to depend on God's Spirit and find strength to rise above our weakness.

Group Leader: Geoff McLean
When: Wednesday at 6:30 PM - Newcastle Site (downstairs in the Pirate Ship)
Average Age: Parents
Study: Parenting Through the Phases
You have approximately 936 weeks from the time your child is born until he or she graduates from high school. It goes by fast, and kids change and grow quickly. It’s as if they shift or move on just as you begin to figure them out. It can make the responsibility to shape a child’s faith and character feel overwhelming. This phase-guided study will help you discover what’s changing about your kid over the next 52 weeks, the six things your kid needs most, and four conversations to have with your kid while they are in each phase.

Group Leader: Jerry Dunnett
When: Wednesdays at 7:00 PM - Newcastle Site (conference room)
Average Age: Men 30+
Study: Thriving in Babylon by Larry Osborne
These are confusing times for many Christians. Traditional biblical values are not only rejected; it seems as if they're attacked on every front. It's all happened at warp speed, leaving many of us spiritually and culturally disoriented or even fearful and frustrated. How can we spiritually survive in an increasingly spiritually hostile environment? And is there any hope for the next generation? This study introduces us to a man forced to live in a fast-changing and godless society. That man was Daniel, and with the power of hope, humility, and wisdom, he not only survived, but thrived.

Group Leader: Nancy Sirois
When: Wednesday at 6:30 PM - TNS Blinds 25 Youghall Dr, Bathurst
Average Age: Mixed 25-60+
Study: Romans – The Letter that Changed the World by Thomas Nelson
The most important idea in the Bible is how a Holy God can get a sinful man into Heaven and not compromise who He is. Romans tell us just that! It sits as Master of the House before all of Paul's writings. It is the Bible in miniature. It is the most important singular document ever penned by man and only inspiration could make it so.

Group Leader: Rod Carpenter
When: Wednesday at 7:00 PM - Chatham Site

Study: This Is The Day by Tim Tebow
Sometimes life feels rigid—as if nothing could ever really change. Maybe we’re afraid of taking a step of faith. Or maybe we’re too injured from the past to move forward. Or maybe life threw us a curveball and we still don’t know how to react. No matter where you find yourself, you can make the most of today.

Study: Psalm 119 by Matt Chandler
Even the most mature believers face dark nights of the soul. During those times God seems distant, His Word feels dry, and the vibrant intimacy we knew before seems absent leaving us wondering, “Where is the Lord in this?”, Psalm 119 aims to introduce viewers to the words of King David who experienced similar seasons of life. Serving as the anchor for the study, Psalm 119 demonstrates the power of God’s Word in the lives of believers and its ability to provide a warm blanket for the soul.

How does being in a small group Bible study impact those things? In this four part video series, Alan Danielson will take a look at four questions every small group Bible study should ask themselves.
