You might be wondering - what’s it really like at The Point Church?
When you walk in, there is a buzz in the air, people greeting each other, genuinely excited to see one another. No matter your background, where you are at on your own spiritual journey, or even why you came - we’re just glad you are with us, and from the moment you walk in, you’ll feel it.
The Point is a place where you come to be changed, to learn, to grow, to connect, and to be built up.

What Can I Expect?
HOW LONG IS THE POINT CHURCH SERVICE?
Our services are about 60-70 minutes in length and we work hard to make it the best hour and ten minutes of your week. Come a few minutes early to grab a cup of coffee from our Overflow Coffee Stop and drop the kids off at KidsPoint.
WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT THE POINT CHURCH?
Sunday's at The Point are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.
WHAT DO I BRING WITH ME?
You don’t need to bring anything, but you’re always welcome to bring a friend along, or just find a new one when you get here! With hundreds of people now regularly attending our services, gatherings, and events, you will most likely already know some people once you get here.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
Wear something comfortable and expect to see people dressed just like you! Some of us dress up a little, and some of us dress very casually. It’s the weekend - come as you like.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS? WHAT WILL THEY DO DURING THE SERVICE?
Children, birth through Grade 5, get to enjoy KidsPoint. We not only love kids, but kids love The Point Church. We've got incredible programs during all of our Sunday morning services. For more information, CLICK HERE.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS A VISITOR?
When you first walk in, you'll be greeted at the door by some friendly people. You'll be offered a cup of free hot coffee, and probably a treat or two! A typical Sunday service consists of 60-70 minutes of inspiration. It will feel a lot more like a wedding reception than a formal ceremony or traditional ritual. You won’t need to know what to say, any secret signs, or things to recite. There will be some music, some videos, a practical message full of hope, and often a couple of other surprises to keep things interesting!
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU PLAY DURING YOUR SERVICES?
We play what works! We use music to inspire, challenge, and connect. You’ll hear a variety of music at The Point Church - everything from a familiar hymn from days gone by to contemporary worship music. From time to time, you’ll even hear secular songs that connect with the message we’re presenting. Many of our regular attendees say that the music is one of their favourite parts of attending at The Point Church.
WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO AT A SERVICE?
Sit back, relax, and participate as much or as little as you want. You can sit at the back at small tables, or up front so you don’t miss a thing. You can bring your coffee right inside the auditorium, or hang out in the lobby and catch up with an old friend. Some in the crowd will sing along with the band, others will continue to sit back and listen. We simply ask that you come with an open mind, explore some new thoughts, and decide for yourself if this is helpful for you.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND? DO I NEED MONEY?
Nothing! There is no cost, and there is no need to bring any money whatsoever. We do receive donations by passing an offering plate and mentioning how to give by text or online at one point during the 60-70 minute service, but we make it clear during that time that no one should feel any obligation from us to participate. We believe God has something for you - not that He needs something from you! We have incredibly generous people who attend this church and who help support the work we do, so don't ever feel pressured to give when the offering plate passes.
AM I GOING TO STAND OUT LIKE A SORE THUMB?
Nope! Our auditoriums are designed so that you walk in from the back and can sit anywhere you like. Slide into a back seat, at a small table, or walk all the way to the front - the choice is yours. We have new people visiting every single week and we know you’ll find people just like you, no matter who you are, here at The Point!
DO YOU HAVE ANY PROGRAMS DURING THE WEEK FOR ADULTS?
We sure do! Visit this page to find out more about our programs for adults.
AM I WELCOME TO COME IF I'M A DIFFERENT RELIGION OR DENOMINATION?
Absolutely! We have a ton of people who join us each week who grew up in lots of different religions and denominations, or who have no religious background or beliefs whatsoever. We have people who grew up Jewish, Catholic, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, United, etc. Everyone is welcome here!
WHAT DENOMINATION ARE YOU?
Although everyone is very welcome, The Point Church is a member of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada. To find out more about our CBAC family, visit their website here.
WHERE DO I PARK?
At the Newcastle Site we have parking available in four primary places: at the front of the church on King George Highway, across the street from the church in the large parking lot (below the old Court House), in the lower side of the church (where the carport is), and in the parking lot below the church.
At the Chatham and Bathurst Site we have one primary place to park - just turn into the church's property and you can park there!
WHERE DO I GO WHEN I GET TO THE CHURCH?
That depends on which site you are attending!
If you are visiting our Newcastle Site, head to the closest entrance you can see - all our doors are open! The adult programs are upstairs and the children's programs are downstairs.
At our Chatham Site, head into our main entrance. Walk up the stairs into our lobby - auditorium is straight ahead or go down the stairs to the right to find the children's programs.
At our Bathurst Site, head into our main entrance. You'll walk up the stairs and turn left into our auditorium or go down the stairs to find the children's programs.
Who We Are
We value celebration over ceremony - we’re passionate, excited, and inspired! Our gatherings are not about formality, but about authenticity.
We value relationship over rituals- we were built for a relationship with Jesus, and we need real relationships with each other.
We value progress over preference- we can have change without growth, but we can’t have growth without change. Things change here all the time and we’re hoping you are ready for change too!
We value an outward focus over an inward one- Jesus was all about others and He challenges us to be others focused as well.
We value serving over sitting - we were created to do good works, and we believe the best way to serve God is by serving others.
We value giving over keeping - we believe we could never out give God and that we are blessed to be a blessing. We see that the more we let go of, release, and give, the more blessings come our way!
We value identifying what we’re for or over what we’re against- we know there are terrible things out there, but we don’t want to give the evils of this world all the attention. We want to be known first for what we are for. (Romans 8:31, Romans 5:8)
What We Believe
We believe that God loves you, no matter who you are or what you've done. We believe that there is room for everyone in the Family of God and we believe that God wants to have a real, vibrant, growing relationship with you.
We believe the Bible is God's Word to all people and that it is relevant in our daily lives.
We believe in One God, expressed in the Trinity as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe that each member of the Trinity possess equal power and authority.
We believe that Jesus lived a perfect life, died for us on the cross and defeated death in His resurrection so that we could have life. We believe it is through His blood alone that our sins are forgiven and we are able to obtain salvation.
We believe that the church is the hope of the world and that we are called to gather together as a body of believers. We believe that participation is crucial to the growth of our church and the growth of those in our church. We believe God has equipped each of us with unique gifts and skill sets that He wants us to put to use.
We believe that the church exists for people who are far from God and so we invite our people to constantly be inviting the people closest to them so all can experience the life-changing message of Jesus.
We see it as a privilege to give back to God what He has so freely given to us. We celebrate generosity.
We believe that participation in small groups is the best way to build community and foster spiritual growth.
